IT at Penn State

In this talk, we will explore the dual nature of artificial intelligence in the realm of education,  and research. While AI offers transformative benefits and impacts, it also presents challenges. We will discuss how AI is reshaping both educational practices and research landscapes, the implications for educators, IT needs/compute resources, and researchers, and the importance of navigating these complexities to harness AI’s full potential for positive change.

Engineering education and research are natural catalysts for change.  As technology advances at an accelerating pace, within a higher education landscape shaped by shifting societal structures, embracing change is essential for maintaining cutting-edge programs and operational excellence.  Artificial Intelligence, hybrid working, and resource realignments present not only challenges but also opportunities for Information Technology support to drive innovation in engineering education and research through collaborative engagement with administrators, faculty, staff, and students.
